The
Forever Forests Guide is a public resource that shares important science about forest health, interpreted by California artists. The artwork in the guide came from the associated
Forever Forests Art Content that invited artists to explore and express their connection with the state's forests. Whether exploring surrounding ecosystems in their own forested communities or reflecting on the indelible memories left by visits to Californian’s sublime forests, artists across the state submitted more than 400 pieces that share personal connections rooted in these special places. In this way, the Forever Forests guide became a community-driven dialogue about our relationships with and hopes for California forests. In reconsidering misguided land management practices, especially around fire, and honoring Indigenous traditional ecological knowledge in the fight against climate change, this campaign aimed to put forward a collective vision of vital forest health concepts.
